Every once in a while, a story comes along that reminds us why we love this industry so much. At this year’s Printing United Expo in Orlando, we met one of those stories in person.
Â
Congratulations to Tom Wiegand and the team at Budget Printing Center in Tallahassee, Florida, winners of Xitron’s K2 Workflow Bundle Giveaway. Tom recently retired after more than two decades at the helm of Budget Printing, but rather than sell the company or wind things down, he chose a different path — one that ensures his employees’ future. He placed the business in a trust, creating long-term stability for the people who helped build it.
Â
That kind of foresight and generosity mirrors what K2 represents in our world — continuity, independence, and control. Just as Tom secured the next generation for his company, K2 gives printers control of their own production future, with modern technology and perpetual ownership rather than endless subscriptions.
Â
When Tom heard about the K2 prepress workflow, he didn’t just read the brochure, he made the four-hour drive to Orlando to see it in action. He watched the demo, talked with the team, and entered the drawing on the spot. When David Zwang of Whattheythink.com pulled his name as the winner of a complete K2 bundle; software, installation, training, and a one-year support agreement valued around $30,000, the reaction was pure excitement, both from him and from everyone in the booth.
Â
We couldn’t have asked for a more deserving recipient. Tom’s leadership and his commitment to doing right by his team embody exactly what K2 is designed to support: long-term resilience, local ownership, and the freedom to keep printing without compromise.
Â
Congratulations again to Tom and everyone at Budget Printing. We’re honored to be part of your next chapter, and thrilled that K2 will help power it.
