Xenith Extreme 6. 0 features new client, JDF tools
May 6, 2004 DRUPA Düsseldorf, Germany -- Xitron, the industry’s leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, announces today the new 6.0 version of Xenith Extreme.
Xenith Extreme is an Adobe Extreme compliant workflow with tools including PDF Creation, Certified PDF, Built-in Pre-Flight, In-RIP Trapping, NORM and ROOM Proofing, Post-Rip Imposition, Archiving and unlimited Mac and PC clients. New to this version includes JDF support; a redesigned client interface, native OS X support and JDF based Imposition. New proofing capabilities will allow users to control ink density and ink-curves as well as LAB color look-up of spot colors.
Xitron’s JDF strategy is currently being developed within the Xenith Extreme range of workflow products. The JDF technology will be used in many areas of Xitron’s products to be announced at DRUPA. New products will be compatible with current Xitron systems, therefore protecting the investment of our users. Specific implementations with Xenith Extreme will include:
JDF Job Input - JDF jobs coming into the Xenith workflow will contain a range of information about the job; for example, a unique job ID, customer information and more. This JDF information is supplemented with additional information obtained from the prepress workflow system, and communicated to the later stages of print production. The major benefit of this automation is reducing the need to re-key information at different stages of the workflow.
JDF Imposition - Support for JDF imposition schemes within the Xenith workflow. This gives maximum flexibility for addressing issues like choosing which press to use at the back end of the pre press workflow. This means job screening, color management etc can be applied at the last minute to work with busy press schedules.
JDF Press Control - One area where CIP4/PPF was adopted well was in communicating press ink setting information to press control system. The JDF Press Control option will vastly extend this functionality in providing much more than just ink setting information, and will minimize press make ready time.
Xenith Extreme also offers an optional Dynagram imposition solution integrated into the workflow using JDF technology. The JDF tools allow DynaStrip to communicate information to the Workflow such as imposition layout, marks and pagination. In addition, Xenith Extreme can also pass data from DynaStrip downstream to CIP4 compatible presses and finishing equipment.
“Our goal with JDF is to provide practical solutions which add real benefit to customers. Our JDF product will provide real cost, automation or productivity benefit to a customer,” explains Jeffrey Nelson, Product Manger Xenith Solutions, Xitron. -30-
