Includes Ryobi DI 3404, Heidelberg QM-DI and KPG DirectPress
Ann Arbor, MI – June 30, 2005 -- Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors and workflow solutions, announced today the release of an enhanced interface for Presstek technology-based devices including the Presstek Dimension line of CTP devices, Ryobi DI 3404, Heidelberg QM-DI and KPG DirectPress digital printing presses.
The new plug-in/driver for Navigator RIPs and Raster Blaster TIFF Catchers includes the ability to automatically generate Ink Key settings files used by the Heidelberg QM-DI. Previous versions have supported the direct-to-press devices but have not included the automatic ink key feature. The plug-in/driver provides a thumbnail of the file in a format compatible with the DI press consoles and supports both 8 and 12-key systems.

Presstek Plugin Ink Key Generation for QM DI
Creation of the .ink file is automatic when selecting “Make Ink Key File” in the plugin for the QM-DI.
“We enjoy much greater color accuracy and a ten-fold performance increase over our old RIP" says Ketan Shah of Sir Speedy Printers, one of Xitron's beta testers for the new interface. "We also like the ability to more accurately proof our RIPed jobs on screen prior to imaging."

A single .BMP thumbnail file is created once the completed job appears in the specified drive directory. The screen shot on the left shows the job including the CMYK and 4-spot colors plus the .BMP file. The screen on the right shows a sample of the .BMP file image.
The plugin is available for the entire family of Xitron RIPs and Workflow solutions including the Navigator Harlequin-based RIP, RasterBlaster TIFF catcher, Xenith 4 PDF and Xenith Extreme Adobe-based workflow solutions.
"Xitron is pleased to be the RIP and Workflow of choice for so many customers converting to direct-to-plate and direct-to-press systems," comments R. Patrick French, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Xitron. "Driving more than 150 devices, it is logical that Xitron would support the latest technology in the graphic arts market.”
Existing users of the Presstek plug-in may upgrade at no charge by downloading the new plugin from the Xitron website at www.xitron.com.
