Enhanced Driver for Digital Imaging Presses Ann Arbor, MI – June 30, 2005 -- Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors and workflow solutions, announced today the release of an enhanced interface for Presstek technology-based devices including the Presstek Dimension line of CTP devices, Ryobi DI 3404, Heidelberg QM-DI and KPG DirectPress digital printing presses. The new plug-in/driver for Navigator RIPs and Raster Blaster TIFF Catchers includes the ability to automatically generate Ink Key settings files used by the Heidelberg QM-DI. Previous versions have supported the direct-to-press devices but have not included the automatic ink key feature. The plug-in/driver provides a thumbnail of the file in a format compatible with the DI press consoles and supports both 8 and 12-key systems.

A single .BMP thumbnail file is created once the completed job appears in the specified drive directory. The screen shot on the left shows the job including the CMYK and 4-spot colors plus the .BMP file. The screen on the right shows a sample of the .BMP file image.
The plugin is available for the entire family of Xitron RIPs and Workflow solutions including the Navigator Harlequin-based RIP, RasterBlaster TIFF catcher, Xenith 4 PDF and Xenith Extreme Adobe-based workflow solutions.
