Training
Xitron is committed to educating our dealer partners for proper installation, training, and support of our products. To accomplish this, we schedule several classes throughout the year and invite participants to join us at our headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Classes run from two to five days, depending on the curriculum and are taught in a dedicated classroom environment. Every participant has their own workstation and are afforded ample question and answer time with instructors. Most classes include hands-on testing for comprehension with official certification as the ultimate goal.
Course Information
Basic Navigator Training for Dealers
This course covers the fundamentals of installation and set-up for the Navigator RIP on PC platforms. As with all Xitron dealer courses, it includes hands-on exercises that focus on practical issues such as memory requirements and settings, creating inputs, configuring Page Setups for composite and separated workflow, halftone screening, calibration, and output.
This course lasts two days and participants should have some previous experience with the Windows Operating System as well as a familiarity with PostScript RIPs. There is an exam at the end of the class, which (if passed) certifies the attendee for field installation and support of Navigator RIPs. A passing grade on the exam is required before moving on to the Advanced Navigator class.
Advanced Navigator GPS Training for Dealers
This combination class first introduces the attendee to more complex topics such as in-RIP trapping, color management, use of ICC profiles, color control through ColorPro, and integration of the vDot, and ProofReady Plug-ins. Attendees are expected to configure RIPs for calibrated proofing output and understand the results generated by various settings.
Next, attendees are introduced to Navigator GPS, Xitron’s workflow management system for Harlequin RIPS. Topics covered include PC and Mac clients, server setup and maintenance, creating/editing workflows, and job management. Each attendee is expected to properly install and configure his/her Navigator GPS server and pass a certification exam that replicates a live install. Each attendee MUST have previous experience installing and supporting Harlequin RIPs, or be certified through the Basic Navigator course.
