Xenith FAQs
Q. How does Xenith re-map spot colors?
Xenith allows re-mapping of spot colors from any Mac or PC client. This allows each user to check the inks used in a job before RIPing to help ensure that job is right the first time.
Q. How many clients do I get with Xenith?
Xitron offers unlimited clients for both the Macintosh (OS 9 and X) and Windows (2000 & XP Pro, 2003) computers.
Q. What if my shop outgrows our current hardware configuration?
Xenith is a scalable workflow. Although most of our customers have a “single box” solution, we do have the ability to add additional RIP and Trap instances to allow you to double or triple your throughput. You will still be able to maintain control over the entire system through the Mac and Windows clients.
Q. Can I upgrade Xenith4PDF?
Yes – Xenith4PDF is a very popular configuration of our Xenith product line but it has the same expandability as any other Xenith system.
Q. Can I edit PDF’s with Xenith?
We provide a button within the Xenith RIP Manager that allows you to open the PDF file from within the workflow and edit it as you wish. When you close the file again, the PDF automatically re-enters the workflow, and there is no need to resubmit the file.
Q. Can Xenith do NORM and ROOM proofing?
Yes – Xenith 4PDF and Xenith Extreme can both generate NORM (normalize once, render many) or ROOM (render once, output many) proofs. Please note that ROOM proofing is an option with Xenith4PDF.
Q. Can I drive my imagesetter, platesetter and proofing devices from Xenith?
Yes – Xenith can drive over 150 output devices. This includes inkjet proofers, imagesetters, and CTP devices. In addition, most CTP manufacturers offer “Tiff catchers” for their platesetters.
Q. Does Xenith drive inkjet proofers directly and incorporate Color Management?
Yes – Xenith has direct drivers for most Epson and HP inkjet devices and we support the use of industry standard ICC profiles within the workflow. In addition, Xenith’s Media Profiler provides control over virtually every aspect of today’s inkjet devices including droplet size, ink splitting, linearization and characterization.
Q. How does Xenith handle trapping?
Xenith uses the Adobe In-RIP trapping engine to provide automated, accurate trapping for even the most demanding of commercial print shops. In addition, we provide trapping plug-ins for Macintosh and Windows platforms to perform zone-based trapping.
Q. Does Xenith have support for CIP3 and CIP4?
Yes - Xenith is CIP3 and CIP4 compliant. We offer a CIP option for both Xenith 4PDF and Xenith Extreme.
