Fewer Work-Arounds, Faster Turn-Arounds
Paulette Bertrand, Digital Pre-press Director at St. Croix Press, expressed two major points when asked about the Xenith system installed there. “Our Xenith system gives us far more flexibility with respect to accepting various file formats. As a result, we have fewer workarounds and faster turnaround times.” She also discovered a side benefit; “Less training with our customers. In the past, teaching customers to save files according to our standards was a difficult task.”

St. Croix ’s turn-around time also improved due to the Post-RIP imposition capability in Xenith. “Xenith can RIP jobs into single pages which save us time during the final output stages of production. If a single page needs correcting all we do is resend the single page instead of the entire job.”

But Paulette was concerned with support after the sale. “Support is a key issue when purchasing equipment. Xitron has surpassed our expectations both in training our staff and troubleshooting problems related to troublesome files and our inexperience with the system. We were surprised at the smooth transition from our previous workflow.”

In Paulette’s opinion, the Xitron Specialist who installed St. Croix Press’ Xenith was very professional and she was impressed with his experience in both computer technology and the printing industry. More importantly, she discovered a comforting level of support in the months after the install. “If we have issues, they are taken care of with one phone call directly to a Xitron support specialist. We often talk to the same one who completed the original installation. This personal level of support helps solve our problems quickly and it’s a refreshing change from what we were use to with other large manufacturers.”

Conclusion
Xenith Extreme has far exceeded Paula’s expectations. More than 80% of St. Croix Press’ work had been directed through Xenith during the first few weeks after installation.
